Our Vision and Values :

Richard George Foundation (RGF) is a registered private non-governmental and non-profit organisation (CAC Registration No. 179866) with headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria and an office in London, United Kingdom.
Our vision is to Raise Africa’s Change Makers – with focus on young and talented African graduates from polytechnics and universities first in Nigeria and indeed Africa.
Our objective is to provide Social, Educational and Economic Empowerment to such high-flying students through mentoring guidance and pastoral support.

RGF’s ethical values and vision

RGF aims to conduct its business with honesty and integrity and expects employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) to maintain the highest ethical standards. RGF recognises the obligations it has towards the entire community.
RGF seeks to fulfill those obligations according to the original principles laid out in the Nolan Report on standards of behavior in public life. These principles are set out below and represent our core values:

Our 7 core principles guide everything we do. They apply to every mentee and mentor including strategic and development partners of the foundation.

Selflessness

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF should take decisions solely in terms of the public interest. They should not do so to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends.

Objectivity

In carrying out public business, including making public appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits, employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF should make choices on merit.

Integrity

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might influence them in the performance of their official duties.

Leadership

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.

Openness

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF should be as open as possible about all the decisions and actions that they take. They should give reasons for their decisions and restrict information only when the wider public interest clearly demands.

Accountability

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF are ultimately accountable for their decisions and actions to the public and must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.

Honesty

Employees, volunteers, mentees, mentors, stakeholders (partners and sponsorship organisations) of RGF have a duty to declare any private interests relating to their public duties and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the public interest. Any conflict must be notified in writing to RGF and updated as appropriate.

At RGF our goal is to work collaboratively with our various stakeholders to help some of Africa’s young and talented graduates fulfill their career aspirations including start-up aspirations and entrepreneurship.

Aims and Objectives

  • To recognize and reward on a yearly basis the: 
  • The best overall English & Literary Studies Graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Nigeria (Formerly Bendel State University)
  • The best overall final year student at Hussey College, Warri, Nigeria
  • To provide Social, Educational and Economic Empowerment to high-flying final year students, soon to graduate and students undergoing their master’s programme from polytechnics and universities in Africa
  • To impart life skills through information, education, collaboration and continuous learning and development and coaching to fulfil potentials of these students
  • To build and develop an ecosystem where own-learning, collaboration and shared best practices can take place in a safe and secure manner
  • To give them tools and techniques that will help build confidence and competence and make them competitive amongst their peers globally.
  • To mentor and provide guidance to the youth.
  • To conduct study on various social issues from time to time, gather data, and carry out research. 
  • To campaign for awareness on the aforesaid issues by disseminating information among the public. 
  • To take such other measures and render services or assistance including establishment of information centres, setting up of educational, research and training institutions, etc., to the aforesaid class of persons and other persons, as may be necessary from time to time for the betterment of society.
  • To associate itself with any other non-governmental organisations or institutions, Society or Association, having objectives wholly or in part, similar to those of the Richard George Foundation (RGF) and to co-operate with any person or body of persons in furtherance of such objectives.
